Facebook and Google Takes Online Recruitment to the Next Level

Facebook and Google Takes Online Recruitment to the Next Level Facebook and Google run the world. If they want to get into recruitment marketing, would you bet against them? Facebook has over two billion active users, while Google seemingly has its footprint in everything these days. Now they have entered the recruiting industry aiming to make a major play at the traditional recruiting sites. For the past 20 years, online recruitment marketing has been beneficial to companies’ recruiting strategies, allowing them to reduce the time it took in the hiring process. But they seem to have reached the limit of their ability: Companies are now spending too much money and gaining too little in online recruitment. They need a way to jumpstart recruitment marketing investments. With billions of people using Facebook and Google each day, they hold an immediate advantage over other recruitment sites. Its time to take advantage of Facebook and Google to take online recruitment marketing to the next level. Improved efficiency The tools provided by Facebook and Google allow for much greater efficiency than other websites. The main way to improve efficiency through these mediums is by leveraging the respective capabilities of each network. Roughly 70% of job searches begin on Google. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how this can be used to your advantage â€" go to where the candidates are. Search engine optimization (SEO) can improve both the quantity and quality of a company’s results on Google â€" in fact, a company can obtain dozens of leads in a single day! Facebook’s main benefit is its massive daily user base â€" it’s the biggest talent pool in the world. Simply put, Facebook is a goldmine waiting for companies to fully tap into it. Well-placed marketing campaigns can reach the exact candidates that a company desires, making Facebook an efficient and easy means to attract candidates. Furthermore, Google recently started using its geolocation tool to its advantage, allowing searchers to customize the distance of the job postings in their searches. Facebook also allows this feature, giving users even more flexibility when they are searching for jobs. It has become easier than ever to find candidates within a specific city, state, or country. Capturing engaging candidates Many times, especially with the prevalence of “quick apply” features, candidates applying to a company aren’t very engaged. Some don’t even know much about the company or even the job that they are applying to, resulting in a huge waste of company time and resources. An additional side-effect of unengaged candidates is the trend of “ghosting,” where companies schedule an interview with a candidate and never hear back from them again. With Google, companies can use AI to pre-qualify candidates by reading the job description and screening potential candidates, making sure they are right for the job. This type of candidate search typically results in much more engaged candidates who do their research and are truly interested in the job â€" leading to lower ghosting rates, as well. Automation at a much larger scale Recruiting through Google and Facebook also allows recruiting teams to save much more time than by traditional means. Most recruiting teams are already doing some sort of social media recruiting campaign right now â€" typically through individual, manual efforts or through traditional “paid” banner ads or clicks. However, the true potential of Google and Facebook comes through recruitment automation at a much larger scale. No longer will individual recruiters have to advertise their company at a tailgate with a beer in their hand. As the technology engages with the candidates all recruiters really need to do is connect the pipes and watch as engaged, talented candidates flow to the company’s recruitment team. In addition to SEO optimization and AI candidate qualification, recruiters can use robotic process automation (RPA) to take advantage of the scope of Google and Facebook in order to reach the most people. Automation of more menial tasks frees up time for recruiters to spend their time with strategic tasks that require critical thinking. When Google or Facebook announces they are entering a new industry, the world listens. It may go against what companies think they know about recruitment, but using big tech to their advantage is the best way to get smart about recruitment in the 21st century. Three Ways to Avoid Failed New Years Resolutions

Three Ways to Avoid Failed New Year’s Resolutions As we prepare for the start of another new year, it would be easy to stick with the same common New Year’s resolutions. This is the year to realize that you make resolutions that will last more than a few weeks. If you are looking to make big improvements in your life this year, here are key approaches that work. Not Another Exercise The most common New Year’s resolution is to exercise more. People will pledge to work out regularly or a specific number of times per week. The problem is exercise becomes an add-on to your regular life. These means it can quickly be pushed to the side. Even if you spend hours on the treadmill, you won’t be making a significant and lasting change in your life. The solution is to take a bold step to re-evaluate and jump-start your fitness. Do this by embarking on an intensive program where you can focus and see results. This will help to reset your health and outlook, making it easier to continue exercising on an ongoing basis. Book a martial arts or  meditation retreat where you can have fun while you focus on improving your health. Make a plan to run a marathon and join a training group to make that happen. Learn how to swim or find a new sport to start. Keep in mind that you are more likely to continue with a new exercise plan if you are working out as part of a group. Find friends or neighbours who you can join regularly for walks.   If your plans to exercise are just part of a repetitive eating problem, consider getting professional help or simply prepare for residential eating disorder treatment.   Your life is at stake! Get Creative So often we make resolutions to eat healthier food. The problem is that resolution is really too vague to be effective. That means people usually quickly revert back to their usual eating habits. A better approach is to pick more specific goals. Make a plan to cook and eat a healthy meal at least once per week. Make a resolution to replace your daily morning baked treat with a healthier alternative, two days per week. These may seem like small steps but the calories and improved nutrition can make a significant difference. These small changes can also lead to other improvements. Your weekly healthy meal could become two, once you’ve mastered new recipes. As you get used to trying new foods and finding alternatives to the food you’ve been eating, it will be easier to make healthy food a greater part of your life. All or Nothing Most resolutions fail because people have an all or nothing approach. You plan to stop smoking but, as soon as you have one cigarette, you may declare your resolution over. A busy week at work can quickly lead you to miss your daily gym workout and then give up. Instead of a do or die approach to resolutions, give yourself room to fail and then recover. Realize there will be good and bad weeks. If you plan to stop smoking or drinking, give yourself a few do-overs. Plan a few cheat days for your new diet. Expect there to be weeks when you won’t be able to fulfil your exercise schedule. It is better to set a lower goal that you can meet than to create a goal you’ll only be able to meet for a few weeks.

How the CV Man Landed his Dream Job

How the CV Man Landed his Dream Job You may recognise  Alfred Ajani, AKA The CV Man, as the guy who landed himself his dream marketing job, by handing out his CV in Waterloo Station. After having a tough time finding a job after graduating last Summer, Alfred did not become disheartened by job rejections and rather took his job search into his own hands, knowing that he had to do something a little different to stand out in such a competitive job market. After being spotted in Waterloo Station holding a sign advertising his 2.1 in Marketing, he was offered a job at the Asoria Group and the rest is history.   A few months on, the tables  have turned and Alfred has been the one doing the hiring. Alfred shared his story with us and heres what he had to say: What pushed me to go to Waterloo station many asked. Many say I was desperate. I tell them I was ready to work and take my ideas to market. My main idea is self-promotion, what are you doing to stand out? With traditional methods of applying I would be waiting for a response for at least two weeks. I would sometimes have no response or an automated message stating unfortunately, I do not have enough experience. It is a problem with graduate jobs in general. After unsuccessfully applying for over 300 jobs I decided to take matters into my own hands and get myself the role I wanted, which is what The Asoria Group offered. Millions of graduates before me have been in my shoes and have received that email telling them they are too inexperienced for the role. The headaches and hair pulling starts, where are we supposed to get this experience from? There is the option of the gap year, but how many second year students are lucky enough to land one of those at a respected company? However my message when sharing my story is to join a start-up (like The Asoria Group). The things you can learn in such a short period of time such as organisation structure, how to run a business, how to grow a business, and the trial and error of new marketing campaigns are invaluable. Safe is risky and we are ready to try anything here. Millions of graduates after me will receive that email and be even more confused than me as to why they pay so much to study at university, to come out with even less job opportunities than their friends who didn’t go to university. It was a stressful period but as the saying goes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I reached mine and I like to think this was the role for me, I was meant to come here and do what I am doing. What am I doing? Now Marketing, PR and Project manager I still find time to make TV and radio appearances and the odd motivational speech to attract more graduates to join me at The Asoria Group. My main project at the moment ‘Women in Business’ I have been speaking with women across the sectors we operate in to gather their stories experiences and advice. I have been sharing their stories through video logs and blog posts, the popularity of this project is great and we have already seen an increase in the number of females applying for our roles both internally and externally. I’ve seen a few graduates pop up at stations all over the world now with placards advertising their skills. It’s great to be such an inspiration but this particular graduate caught my eye. And I hired him. I am proud to announce the hiring of The Asoria Group’s latest superstar recruiter, Nutty T. Squirrel. Nutty continues The Asoria Group’s diverse and out of the box hiring strategy. Nutty came to the attention of The Asoria Group, when he was spotted in Waterloo Station holding up a sign saying “2:1 in Acorn Management, Coventree University Graduate, Please ask for a CV.” Nutty comes on board with a wealth of experience in collecting and storing acorns for winter, scurrying around really quickly and climbing trees. He will be working alongside our internal recruitment team at various events across the country helping to recruit new graduates to sales roles in The Asoria Group. How could I not hire a squirrel that took a nut out of my tree? If you think you have what it takes to join The Asoria Group team, drop Nutty your CV and make sure you keep up with Nutty’s exploits on his Twitter @NuttyDaSquirrel. Author:  I am Alfred Ajani the Coventry University graduate from South London also known as ‘The CV Man’.  I am Marketing and PR Projects Manager at The Asoria Group, responsible for driving the Marketing and PR function of The Asoria Group. My role is to bring innovative solutions to traditional challenges within the recruitment industry.

Association of Accounting Technicians Offers E-learning To Its Students

Association of Accounting Technicians Offers E-learning To Its Students Press Release AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) has launched an e-learning product to complement its existing AAT Access qualification. AAT Access  is a Level One qualification which gives the learner basic accountancy and finance skills. By completing AAT Access, learners will increase their employability by gaining the skills and knowledge required to work for small local firms to large, multinational companies. With the addition of the e-learning product, AAT Access will adopt a blended learning approach to support students inside and outside the classroom. In practice, this means what students learn face-to-face is complemented by e-learning materials, which they can use in their own time. These can be accessed online, 24/7 so students can study at their own pace. The e-learning materials contain a diagnostic tool, allowing learners to track their progress and focus on areas they may find more difficult. This helps learners gain confidence throughout the course and increases their chances of passing. Commenting on the launch of the AAT Access e-learning product, AAT Director of Education Suzie Webb said: “The education world is transforming and it’s important that we are at the forefront of that transformation. We are committed to providing quality e-learning materials so our students can learn in a time and place that suits them. “Provision of these additional learning materials also benefits our training providers, who regularly use our e-learning materials within classroom delivery, or as reference materials for students after lessons. “Getting some form of qualification is often the first step to pursuing a new career or climbing the career ladder, but there are factors such as lack of time and experience that prevent people from doing this. AAT Access can help students overcome any barriers they face giving them new skills, confidence and knowledge. “It’s now easier than ever for people to make a start or get ahead in their careers. By offering a course that contains a unique blend of traditional and e-learning teaching techniques, we’ve been able to create a pathway that is open to everyone and suited to every type of learner.” photo credit: Olga Díez (Caliope) via photopin cc 0

How the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Can Help Your Career - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach

How the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Can Help Your Career Of the numerous instruments designed to assess personality type, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® or MBTI ® instrument is undoubtedly the most widely used and well-known.   What’s it for?   How does it work? How can it help? The purpose of the Myers-Briggs assessment, according to its two developers Katherine Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers is  â€œto enable individuals to grow through an understanding and appreciation of individual differences in healthy personality and to enhance harmony and productivity among diverse groups.” How does it work?   Based on a person’s answers to a series of questions, the MBTI assessment determines personality types based on four criteria. First, people find out if they have a preference for Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I), Sensing (S) or Intuition (N), Thinking (T) or Feeling (F) and Judging (J) or Perceiving (P).  The results of the assessment leave you with a four letter personality type, like ESTJ or INFP. How would knowing my personality type help me select a career? Knowing your personality preferences can benefit your career development in many ways.  Knowing who you areâ€"for example, what energizes you, how you prefer to take in information, your approach to problem-solving, how you prefer to structure your timeâ€"can assist you in evaluating the type of job roles and career paths that will be most satisfying to you.     The more you understand your own strengths and weaknesses the better able you are to look for opportunities to grow in certain areas and to shine in othersâ€"invaluable information as you look to carve out your unique career path. For those already set on a career path, is it too late for MBTI insights to make a difference? No, it’s never too late to learn about yourself and use the new knowledge to further your own growth and success.   If you’re already set on a career path, knowing your personality type can assist you with navigating choices and answering the myriad questions that will arise along the way. If your work involves selling products or services, knowledge of type can be helpful in understanding what customers need from you, especially how they best like to learn about products and services and how they like to interact during the process of gathering information and making decisions. Becoming a better manager Knowing your personality type isn’t just beneficial to you it can be a tremendously helpful management tool as well. As you learn more about personality preferences, you’ll grow to recognize, understand and appreciate personality differences.   And, the insights you gain will help you to adjust your own style to meet the needs of others.   One example of how the MBTI framework can be used as a development tool can be found in a case study of the Saint Francis Medical Center. No right or wrong type It’s important to remember that MBTI type describes preferences, not skills or ability.   There is no one right personality type, it doesn’t predict behavior, and every type has the ability to function well in any career. While it is true that people typically gravitate towards careers that complement their natural preferences, we are all required to tap into those less preferred aspects of our personalities at any given time. For more information on the MBTI visit https://www.cpp.com/products/mbti/index.aspx Jennifer Overbo is Director of MBTI ® Product Strategy for CPP, Inc., the exclusive publisher of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® instrument.

Tough (Question) Tuesday What will it take for you to trust yourself

Tough (Question) Tuesday What will it take for you to trust yourself Must Believe in You by jenzet This might be the toughest questions of all tough questions. I wouldnt be surprised if there were 0 comments, as it would probably leave me running scared if I was a reader here. But yetthis is the point of Tough (Question) Tuesday. To dig. To inquire. To think. To realize. To articulate. To commit. All of that, wrapped up in one tiny question. And yes, this question is coming from a personal place, as I have less than two handfuls of available appointments for the whole month of August ( its only the third of the month!) and yetyetsomethings telling me to be careful of beginners luck, which I feel I had when it came to my short-lived real estate career. While I do feel confident that Im doing all the right things that coaching will be something that Ill have success with throughout my career (that is, until I decide to stop working), theres still that Vampire thats saying, Enjoy it while it lasts. The roller coaster has to go up to go down. Watch for the drop. So, be here with me ask: What will it take for you to trust yourself? Ill meet you in the comments along with my thoughts.
